Many people understand what first aid and CPR classes are. They focus on basic training for medical emergencies are often required for professionals who do police work, do medical work, or provide daycare services. However, many jobs also now require certification in BLS, which means basic life support. We’ll share exactly why CPR, BLS, & AED training is important and where you can get started with learning more.
What is BLS Certification?
A BLS certification is provided after taking part in a class that is similar to a traditional CPR class. The difference between the two is that the BLS certification is typically geared towards those who are or are in the process of becoming a healthcare professional. As such, the class is more in-depth than a CPR class would normally be. You will learn more about things like splinting breaks, providing oxygen masks, and controlling bleeding. You’ll also learn how to administer CPR as a team, how to provide AED, and will be given examples related to a medical environment.
High-Quality BLS Training Courses
In some cases, you’ll see BLS referred to as high-quality CPR training for infants, children, and adults. You’ll learn additional information about CPR including the chain of survival that beings with early intervention and ends with the post-resuscitation period. You’ll also be provided with training and information regarding using an automated external defibrillator, providing appropriate ventilation through barrier device, and assessing, identifying, and removing foreign bodies in the airway of adults and children.
The exercises during CPR, BLS, & AED training will focus more on working as a team during a medical emergency. This provides you with the knowledge you need to do your best in a situation where there might be multiple rescuers present.
Materials for the Course
As with other training, BLS training classes will provide you with everything you need to complete the course. At the end of the course, you will have to take a written test, as well as participating in interactive demonstrations. At the end of the process, you will receive a card certifying you with BLS skills.
